What other method books do you recommend to teach traditional note reading?
We have used so many through the years: Alfred, Bastien, Music Tree, John Thompson, John Schaum and Faber & Faber. Lately, we've been liking the Faber Piano Adventures as the songs are more fun and seem to be gradated better.
These books are introduced after the student is already playing and comfortable in Phase 3 or 4 of Musicolor Notation. And, we introduce it as a small reading exercise in the lesson.
